My Journey

From science to finance,
then finance to science (in finance).

Hi, I’m Phil.

I'm a quantum physicist turned finance professional who's been navigating the complex realms of finance and cutting-edge technology for over a decade.

With a brain trained in the enigmatic world of quantum physics, I've somehow found myself in the equally perplexing universe of financial services—because, why settle for one mind-boggling field when you can challenge yourself with two?

Over the last 15 years, I've been mixing potions of quantum mechanics and financial analytics to brew innovative solutions in the financial sector. Yes, you read that right—I'm basically a financial alchemist at this point, seeking to turn theoretical quantum concepts into solid gold.

As a guardian of Emerging Technologies at HSBC, I ensure that our AI doesn't start thinking it's smarter than us and that our quantum tech remains more focused on solving problems than creating existential crises. It's a bit like being a tech whisperer, but instead of calming horses, I'm soothing the nerves of supercomputers and entangled particles.

When I'm not busy keeping our quantum tech in line or predicting the next big financial trend with a wave function, you might find me explaining the multiverse theory to my pet cat (who, frankly, seems more interested in quantum tunnelling through the box of her latest toy). Or I might be attempting to use quantum entanglement as an excuse for not making it to the gym.

Spoiler alert: it doesn't work, but I'm convinced there's a parallel universe where I'm a fitness guru.

In a nutshell, I'm a quantum physicist by training, a financial service veteran by profession, and a tech tamer by calling. I thrive on making the complex understandable, the theoretical practical, and the cutting-edge accessible. If you're looking for someone to demystify the mysteries of finance, tech, or why cats always land on their feet (quantum gravity, perhaps?), you've come to the right place.

Welcome to my corner of the internet—where finance meets emerging tech, and humour bridges the gap.
